MEMBERSHIP BASICS

  • Privacy: Will KHSU give out my mailing address, phone number or email address?
    Our privacy policy is very simple...We never share your personal information with any other outside organization without your permission.

  • Donor Information Security: How is my personal information protected?
    Donor privacy and security is a top priority for KHSU. Gifts received during on-air pledge drives are recorded manually by KHSU staff and volunteers, who are closely supervised by KHSU staff. Pledge information is entered into into a secure database and all electronic pledge submissions are encrypted and password protected. All stored credit card information is held securely in compliance with the Payment Card Industry standard (PCI) by Humboldt State University Gift Processing.
  • When will my membership be due for renewal?
    Your membership expires one year from your last renewal contribution.

  • How can I change or update my credit card information?
    Call Member Services at 707-826-6084 and we'll take down the new information.
    Please don't send credit card information via email or leave card information on voicemail.
    We will need your full card number when changing your information. KHSU staff and the staff of HSU do not have access to your card number once it is entered and secured in compliance with PCI rules.
  • What's a "Sustaining Member?"
    Sustaining Members make an ongoing monthly contribution of $5 or more and enjoy an automatic annual membership renewal. We can use a credit card or debit card with a Mastercard ior Visa symbol on the card. All the same member benefits and thank-you gifts are available. MAIL

  • How can I change my mailing address?
    Please contact Member Services / 707-826-6084 with both your old and new mailing addresses.

  • How can I find out my member number and membership renewal date?
    Please contact Member Services / 707-826-6084 for membership and donation information.

  • Why did I receive a reminder when I already sent my contribution?
    Sometimes, your payment may be credited after we’ve already sent a renewal request or pledge reminder. If you've already mailed or called in your gift, you may still receive another reminder. Please disregard the extra reminder and accept our apologies.

    Many donors choose to contribute several times throughout the year, so you may receive a letter asking you to consider an additional gift, over and above your annual membership amount. If you still have questions, please contact Member Services at 707-826-6084.

  • I'm moving out of the area, how do I get myself removed from your mailing list?
    Before you move, please contact Member Services / 707-826-6084 and ask to have all mailings stopped.

    Keep in mind that you can stay connected to KHSU by listening to our stream. Feel free to contact us if you'd like assistance finding a public radio station close to your new home.

THANK YOU GIFTS

  • When will my thank-you gift arrive?
    Normally, you should receive your gift no more than 6 to 8 weeks after we process your contribution. If it has been longer than that, contact Member Services / 707-826-6084 and we'd be happy to look into it. Please keep in mind that we rely on suppliers for most items. We appreciate your patience.

  • Help! My mug arrived in pieces…my DVD doesn’t work…
    We pack everything as carefully as we can, but sometimes, shipping still takes a toll. If this happens to you, please contact Member Services / 707-826-6084 with your name and mailing address. We'll get a replacement out to you as soon as possible.

  • Where can I find the most current list of locations that honor the KHSU MemberCard?
    Check the MemberCard website as the online listings are typically the most up-to-date as they're revised more often than the printed directory. There is also now an ap for iPhone and Android devices that gives you a listing of all the restaurant, lodging, wine tasting, 'green" benefits and other offers on the KHSU Membercard as well as a map of benefits using your location.  Get the ap at the Apple Ap Store for i-phones and iPads or at Google Play for Android devices.

    When you travel, learn how to get a MemberCard for locations outside of our region (coast-to-coast, plus Hawaii & Canada) for just a small shipping & handling fee.

  • My KHSU MemberCard was lost or stolen. How do I get a replacement?
    Email Member Services or call 707-826-6084. Replacement cards usually ship to us in about two weeks and we get them out to you as quickly as we can.

GENERAL

  • Is my contribution tax-deductible?
    Yes, your gift to KHSU is fully tax-deductible to the extent allowable by U.S. law, minus the fair market value of any thank you gifts you receive. Each January, we send you a contribution acknowledgment that you can use for tax purposes.

  • What is the recommended contribution for a basic membership?
    The suggested basic membership level is $50, but your gift of any amount makes you a member. We have faith that our contributing listeners will give the most they can because they believe in the ideals and mission of listener-supported public radio and know that their support is what keeps the station on the air.

  • Can I get a gift membership for someone else?
    Absolutely . . . you pay for the membership (at any level), and the other person receives the benefits. Please call Member Services at 707-826-6084 to make arrangements.

  • How can I get information about becoming a program sponsor?
    Please visit our Program Sponsorship page, or contact Underwriting Coordinator, Jeff DeMark / 707-826-6087.
