Arcata Branch Library’s Susan Parsons, has introduced some innovative programs to encourage reading for the whole family during the summer months and beyond - what she calls, "multigenerational programming."

One of the programs uses canned goods to learn about building structures while tackling food insecurity in the community - the canned goods are free for patrons to take with them. Patrons are also encouraged to bring canned goods to the library to add to the 'building blocks' activity display.
