San Francisco-based satellite imaging company Planet Labs’ Artist-In-Residence Director Forest Stearns was formerly an oft-exhibited artist here in Humboldt County.
He garnered his BA in Fine Arts from HSU in 2005. He’s now a participating artist and the curator of the largest and arguably the first known art exhibit in space thanks to the plethora of shoebox-size Planet Labs “Dove” satellites, each carrying a high-powered telescope and camera photographing different areas of Earth. And the arty satellites have even gained the notice of astronauts at the International Space Station.
