In Memoriam: Walter Natzler

With heavy hearts, we are saddened to announce the unexpected passing of longtime host Walter Natzler.

Walter has been a host on KHSU since 1992, currently hosting TGIF Classics each Friday.

In addition to hosting TGIF Classics, Walter hosted numerous jazz programs and engineered for the RSVP-sponsored, "Sharetime." Walter was the long-time local voice of The Metropolitan Opera, switching to jazz to fill the time when the opera ended early.

If you have photos, memories or comments about Walter, please share them with KHSU in the comment section below. You can also leave a voicemail on our listener comment line: 826-6089.

"Walter and I shared a love for all things Sinatra," recalls former KHSU staffer Geraldine Goldberg. "We co-hosted a special program following Sinatra's death in 1998. When I retired from KHSU Walter created a very special cassette tape for me, Sinatra Live at the Sands (Vegas).  Listening to it now, I hear his voice after some of the songs, sharing his love and wisdom about the man we both admired."

Our hearts go out to his loved ones and listeners.

Far Right: Walter Natzler, 1968

"We loved his wit and humor, both on the air and off the air. He'll be sorely missed. He was a classic and surprising gentleman," said program director Katie Whiteside.

We have no information at this time regarding memorial services.
