"My Favorite Lecture" : A Live Radio/Podcast Event

  Humboldt State University professors deliver their favorite lecture in downtown Arcata this fall, as part of a new broadcast/podcast series.

The series, called “My Favorite Lecture,” will be in front of a live audience. Admission is free, but seating is limited. 

All lectures will be on the second Thursday of the month at the Plaza Grill View Room. They are a collaboration with Arcata Main Street with support from Plaza Grill.
 
The first lecture of Season 1 is on “The Undiscovered Universe” by C.D Hoyle of the Department of Physics and Astronomy. It will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 8. The lecture will air on KHSU Wednesday, Sept 21. at 7 p.m.
 
A “Taste of Arcata” reception featuring complimentary appetizers and a no-host bar starts at 6 p.m.
 
The series’ second lecture will be by Ben Marschke of the Department of History, who will talk about “Witches: Sex and Science in the Sixteenth Century.” It will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 13, and will be preceded by a 6 p.m. reception. This lecture will air on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.
 
The series’ final lecture of the fall will be by Maral Attallah of the Department of Critical Race, Gender and Sexuality Studies. The topic of her talk is still being determined. It will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, and will be preceded by a 6 p.m. This lecture will air on Nov. 23 at 7 p.m.

The “Taste of Arcata” reception at 6 p.m. before each lecture will feature complimentary appetizers, wine, cider, and beer for sale from North Story Wines, Wrangletown Cider, and Redwood Curtain Brewery; and a no-host bar.
